The ancient site and the museum of Brauron are about 15 minutes' walk apart, on the edge of the village of the same name. The site was a centre for the cult of Artemis, goddess of fertility, and there are remains of a 5th-century BC temple dedicated to her, on the site of an even earlier building. A reconstructed scale model of the temple stands in the pleasant museum near by, alongside other finds from the area.
