What to Do in Stockbridge

Stockbridge, located in the Berkshires, was established as a Native American mission in 1734. The Rev. John Sergeant taught and preached to the Stockbridge Indians in their language until his death in 1749. His successor, the Rev. Jonathan Edwards, later became the president of Princeton University. Field Chime Tower was erected in 1878 on the site of the mission; the tower's chimes were to be played “from apple blossom time 'til frost.”
