What to Do in White River National Forest

The White River National Forest is composed of 2.3 million acres of northwestern and north-central Colorado mountains on both sides of I-70; it is entered via US 24 and SRs 13, 82, 131 and 133. The forest was once a favorite hunting ground of the Ute Indians and later of settlers. Highlights include Mount of the Holy Cross, southwest of Vail; Glenwood Canyon; the mountains known as Maroon Bells; Ruedi, Dillon and Green Mountain reservoirs; and Trappers Lake.
