What to Do in Vallejo
In 1851 Gen. Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo (val-LEH-hoh) founded the settlement that bears his name where the Carquinez Straits meet the Napa River. The new town immediately gained prominence when it was designated the state capital on two separate occasions between 1851 and 1853.
