Shelton, on an inlet of South Puget Sound, is known for Christmas trees and oysters. Between November and mid-December, 3 million Christmas trees are cut, packed and shipped from this area. “Tollie,” a 90-ton Shay locomotive that operated in the woods near Shelton from 1924 until 1958, is displayed at Railroad Avenue and Third Street.
