it was clean and the staff were great. the restaurant was a little slow at dinner, but overall it was a very good experience.

Overall, excellence. However, on Saturday evening, 2/4/23 about 10:30 p.m. alarms in the hall (1st floor where we were located) began sounding. Room fire alarms did not. We smelled burning and after a bit found out about a popcorn fire in a microwave on the 5th floor. We dressed and left the room and went to an exit on the same floor. When we heard nothing further, we walked to the lobby where folks were also gathered. After fire engines arrived, all hotel guests were directed to go outside or to our cars in extreme cold while the firemen checked the hotel. We were advised that the firemen had to turn off the alarm but could not do so until the hotel was evacuated. We returned to the first floor exit and notified others who were waiting there. We and the others remained at the exit doors but inside the building. At some point, an announcement was made over the loudspeaker but unfortunately, it failed at the exit door on the 1st floor.. About an hour later, folks were able to return to their rooms. Overall, re the emergency situation, I think the hotel failed in its communication with its guests that evening. Guests should have been made aware of a situation and told what to do immediately.. If loudspeakers are used, they should be checked to ensure they are working (which did not on the 1st floor). Thank goodness, it was only a popcorn/microwave situation. .
