Vincent Van Gogh Huis
Markt 26, Zundert, 4881 CN
The Vincent van Gogh Huis is a museum and art center that marks the spot where the artist was born in the Dutch town of Zundert. The original building was torn down in 1903 to make room for a new parsonage, which was later retrofitted to house Van Gogh–themed exhibitions and art workshops.
The basics
The museum features a permanent exhibition that examines Van Gogh’s roots, focusing on his youth in Zundert, his relationship with his brother Theo and their parents, and the city of Zundert itself. Temporary exhibitions change regularly throughout the year and highlight works by 20th- and 21st-century artists who have been inspired by Van Gogh. In addition, the museum’s shop offers maps of Van Gogh–related walking and cycling routes around Zundert and to nearby villages in the Brabant province.
Things to know before you go
- An audio guide in a number of languages illustrates the permanent multimedia exhibition dedicated to the artist’s early life.
