The basics

Opt for a cycling tour or horseback riding adventure to cover more of the park than you could on foot. Bike rentals are available at the visitor’s center.

How to get there

The park is located in the center of the Haarlem and Zandvoort metro area and is easily accessible via public transportation or bike. There are four train stations within a short walk of the park: Overveen, Bloemendaal, Santpoort Zuid, and Santpoort Noord. The Overveen station is the closest to the main visitor’s center and the Zandvoort provides a direct connection to Amsterdam.

When to get there

The South Kennemerland National Park is open year-round and the visitor’s center is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10am until 5pm. The center is open daily in July and August and on Dutch school holidays. Check the museum events calendar for children’s activities and wildlife talks prior to your visit.

The Dutch Beach Towns

South Kennemerland National Park lies close to the popular seaside resort towns of Zandvoort and Bloemendaal. Zandvoort is a family-friendly beach area offering plenty of water sports opportunities including surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, and kitesurfing. Bloemendaal is just north of Zandvoort and has a bit more of a party atmosphere with beach bars, clubs, and a nude sunbathing area.
