A city highlight since its debut in 1858, the Frankfurt Zoo is home to over 4,500 animals, comprising more than 450 species. The basics
One of Germany’s oldest and most-visited zoos, the Frankfurt Zoo is a family favorite that has welcomed visitors for over 160 years. Home to thousands of animals, in a setting distinguished by dozens of individual habitat areas, the facility makes it easy to discover more about the characteristics and environments of the resident species. Playground and picnic areas help make the zoo a popular destination for visitors of all ages.
The Frankfurt Zoo is easy to tour independently, and admission is discounted for holders of the Frankfurt Card.

How to get there
To reach the Frankfurt Zoo, head to Zoo station by U-Bahn (taking line U6 or U7), or by tram, on line 14. Given its convenient location, it’s also easily accessible by car, by bike, and on foot.
When to get there
The Frankfurt Zoo is open daily, with slightly reduced hours in the winter months. As many of the displays are outdoors, it’s best to visit on warm-weather days (though note that it will also be more crowded at such times). Check the zoo's website for information on feeding times and other events.
