Flamingo Wildlife Habitat
3555 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV, 89109
Topping the list of free and family-friendly things to do in Las Vegas, the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat offers a serene refuge just steps from the go-go bustle of The Strip. Pop in to explore four acres (1.5 hectares) of lush gardens populated with flamingos and other spectacular birds, as well as streams and waterfalls that are home to exotic fish and turtles.
The basics
Set within the confines of the landmark Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel, this wildlife habitat is a unique departure from the neon-lit attractions along The Strip. Its central location makes it easy to pair a visit here with a tour of the city’s sights, or as a stop between slots and shows. Meander the shaded paths along rushing waterways to spot exotic waterfowl like flamingos and pelicans, plus native hummingbirds and songbirds. Pause by the streams to watch the sturgeon, koi, albino catfish, and turtles swim by. The habitat also holds educational talks each morning and afternoon, ideal for nature-loving families.
Things to know before you go
The Flamingo Wildlife Habitat is free to enter and no reservations are needed.
Keeper Talks are scheduled each morning and afternoon to learn more about the habitat and its residents.
The park is an ideal escape for families who need a bit of downtime after a day of buzzy sightseeing and entertainment.
Paved walkways make it an easy attraction to visit with a stroller or wheelchair.
How to get there
The Flamingo Wildlife Habitat is located inside the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel complex near the intersection of South Las Vegas Boulevard—known as The Strip—and Flamingo Road. Take the monorail to the Flamingo/Caesars Palace stop or the Deuce on The Strip bus to the Caesars Palace stop.
When to get there
The park is open daily from 8am to 8pm, but the best time to visit is during the Keeper Talks in the morning and afternoon, when the habitat staff engage with visitors and offer information about the habitat and its wildlife. The site is outdoors, so avoid visiting during the hottest midday hours or if rain is forecast.
The best free things to do in Las Vegas
Las Vegas can be tough on the wallet—especially if you lose at the slot machines—but the city offers plenty of entertainment that won’t break the bank. In addition to the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat, top free attractions include the aquarium inside the Silverton Casino Hotel, the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Garden, the nightly pyrotechnics at the Volcano at the Mirage, and the spectacular fountains at the Bellagio that are timed with music and lights.
