Feddan Park

9 Av. Alger, Tétouan, Morocco, 93000

In the heart of Tetouan, not far from the Royal Palace, sits Feddan Park—a place for people to gather in a relaxed environment. Destroyed years ago when the Royal Palace was being built, it was rebuilt by popular demand. There’s a café nearby, so visitors can grab a tea, coffee, or cold drink and hang out with friends.

The basics

The park is open for all to come and relax on their own. Book a guided tour to dive into the park or the city's history. Tours of Tetouan often stop at the park. It’s a relaxed place to stop and hear what your guide says. Day tours of Tetouan sometimes combine a trip to Chefchaouen, making for a full day out, comparing two distinct Moroccan cities.

Things to know before you go

  • Stay hydrated since the Moroccan climate is dry, and dehydration can sneak up on you.

  • Wear comfortable shoes, since you’ll be walking and surfaces are not always even.

  • Make sure to dress appropriately, covering shoulders and knees to show respect for local customs.

How to get there

Feddan Park is in the center of Tetouan, close to other top attractions such as the Royal Palace. If you’re sightseeing in this area, exploring on foot is best. If you're coming from outside of the city center, hail a petit taxi to drop you at Feddan Park. You can ask them to wait for you or arrange a time for a return trip.

When to get there

The best times to visit Morocco are when the weather is temperate—spring and fall. Summers are hot, and winters get chilly. That said, you can visit Tetouan’s Feddan Park year-round. Come in the early morning or at dusk to see the sun rising and setting, changing the colors of the tiles and casting atmospheric shadows on the square.

Nous-nous or mint tea

If you head to the café near Feddan Park or any of the other multiple cafés in any Moroccan city, two drinks will stand out. The first is traditional mint tea, made with a ton of sugar, usually served in dainty glass cups. The other hot drink often seen is a nous nous, or a half-half, which is half coffee and half steamed milk, also usually served in a small glass cup.
