Whether you’re a Peanuts fan or just want to see original comic-strip artwork by the famous cartoonist, the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa features exhibits starring Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and all their friends. The museums is also home to a theater where you can watch—what else—Peanuts.

Highlights of the museum include a recreation of Charles M. Schultz’s art studio and an education room with the opportunity to draw cartoons yourself. Unlike many other attractions, the Charles M. Schultz Museum doesn’t offer prebooked admission tickets, so you must buy your tickets onsite upon arrival. However, you can reserve your spot on a docent-led tour if you want to get familiar with the museum and grounds with someone who works there.

The Charles M. Schulz Museum is at 2301 Hardies Lane in Santa Rosa, California, close to the large Coddington Shopping Center. If you’re driving from Downtown Santa Rosa, head southwest to Old Courthouse Square, turn right onto Third Street to get on US-101S, and get off at West Steele Lane. The turn on Hardies Lane takes you to the museum. The museum also offers plenty of free parking spaces right outside its front entrance.

The Charles M. Schulz Museum takes about an hour to go through. If you’re looking to avoid the crowds, choose a weekday visit instead of a weekend one. The museum is also less crowded in the fall and winter with summer being its busier time of the year.

After you visit the Charles M. Schulz Museum, go glamping and stay overnight in a luxury tent at Safari West nature preserve—just a 15-minute drive from the museum. Then, the next day, go out on safari yourself and tour the preserve’s 400 acres (162 hectares) during one of the tours, where you’ll see African wildlife such as wildebeest, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, and cape buffalos.
