Burlington Farmers Market

The Burlington Farmers Market is held on Saturdays from May to October on Pine Street, technically at Burlington’s old Greyhound bus station. Visitors will find everything from pottery and honey to flowers, fresh cheeses, hot sauce, Tibetan foods, and maple lemonade. A few vendors vary each week, but most—around 80—are locals and regulars.

In the winter, an indoor market is held at Burlington Beer Co., about two weekends a month. With more than 50 vendors, it’s still sizable and worth a stop, offering a taste of some of the state’s best creameries and growers in one place.

• If you’re planning to drive, on-site parking is limited to handicapped spaces; otherwise there isn’t designated parking for the market.

• The Maltex Building, a 3-minute walk away, has 315 parking spaces (fee required).

• Valet bike parking is available from June to September.

• Portable restrooms are available on-site. If ArtsRiot, across Pine Street, is open, visitors are allowed to use those facilities.

If you can avoid driving to the Burlington Farmers Market, do so. Foot and bike traffic is welcome (there’s even a bike valet), and on Saturday mornings, the #5 bus stops at the market every 30 minutes. If you are driving, there is street parking on South Champlain and Howard Streets.

The Burlington Farmers Market runs from morning to early afternoon on Saturdays from mid-May through October. If you’d like to beat the crowds and get the best choice of produce and baked goods, come right at 9am. Otherwise, there’s no bad time to arrive, though the later it gets, the more likely the most popular vendors will be sold out.

The Burlington Farmers Market makes a great stop for Saturday breakfast, brunch, or lunch. There’s a wide variety of pastries and other goodies, such as tamales and potstickers, as well as coffee, juices, and lemonades. It’s a great way to support local producers, grab a fresh bite, and then head over to downtown or next-door Waterfront Park.
