The basics

Aquópolis Costa Dorada sits just back from the beach of Playa de La Pineda outside the city of Tarragona. Attractions at the water park range from the adventurous to the relaxing, with many of the rides aimed at kids. Families can expect to stay for a few hours up to a whole day, while adults without kids may not spend as long.

Visitors looking to get more from the experience can pay extra for skip-the-line passes, all-inclusive wristbands for the restaurants, or to use Aquópolis Costa Dorada’s VIP Zones, with perks such as hammocks and private cabanas.

Things to know before you go

• The water park has free amphibious chairs available for use by visitors with reduced mobility.

• You can leave the water park and return within a 30-minute window when you ask for a bracelet at the turnstiles.

• While you are allowed to bring food into Aquópolis Costa Dorada, glass containers, cans, and sharp objects are prohibited.

• Some attractions have height and/or weight limits (given in metric units), so check these in advance.

How to get there

Aquópolis Costa Dorada is located in the coastal resort of La Pineda southwest of the city of Tarragona. Buses make the 15-minute journey from Tarragona Bus Station to La Pineda roughly every 20 minutes in the day, stopping opposite the water park. Visitors traveling by car should take the exit for La Pineda off the motorway or A-7 and will find a parking lot at the southern end of Passeig de Pau Casals.

When to get there

As it is a water park, Aquópolis Costa Dorada is only open in the warmer months from June to early October. In June, September, and October, the opening hours are reduced. The water park is busiest in July and August at the height of summer. Visit outside this peak if you want shorter lines for park attractions.

Amusement parks near Tarragona

Not far from Aquópolis Costa Dorada near Salou is another amusement park that can entertain visitors, PortAventura World. This large amusement complex is home to several parks, including its own water park with the Caribe Aquatic Park. The other parks at PortAventura include various rides, shows, and attractions at PortAventura Park and the themed attractions at Ferrari Land.
