The Guardsman

The staff was great. Breakfast in their dining room was very good. The location near tube and bus stops was very convenient for getting around the city, while Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey were within walking distance. The room itself was small with a wardrobe with 4 hangers that fit very little. There was no dresser or drawers for clothes so I used the massive drawer under the bed intended for the suitcase, which I did also use for my suitcase. I never fully unpacked in the 5 days I was there. The bathroom had a great shower with a heated floor. The all electronic touch controls for lights etc. were straightforward with the exception of the temperature control. That required staff help to decipher. There was a green pinpoint light on the smoke detector that lit the room at night. The staff offered to cover it with tape but after exhausting myself touring London, I managed to fall asleep in the dim green glow. For the money, there may be other options. The small room size was expected but lack of clothes storage was a challenge.
