Nice location. Hotel is showing some age. The room has an AC unit that was so loud when kicking on it would wake you up. Also didn’t do a great job cooling the room. Also, I emailed the hotel about special arrangements for a birthday a few days prior and they never emailed back or brought it up.
Hotel was nice but half the staff was not so much. A lot of their restraunts are 21+ so my daughter (of down syndrome is 17) and I were turned away and had to find elsewhere to eat. Although our hotel was on Duval Street there were plenty of other places to choose from
Overpriced and not worth it. Check in was a horror show as the reception area is grossly undersized and understaffed for the large number of rooms at this resort. Long lines during a peak period should have been anticipated by the hotel mgmt. many were complaining. For a three day stay in the Avalon property, I had a room with multiple issues. Day One I had no hot water in afternoon/evening and took a cold shower on an unseasonably hot and humid day, had malfunctioning AC that required two maintenance people to fix. The second maintenance person who fixed it at night was abrupt and told me he doesn’t need AC in his home and “would be going home in ten minutes”. Night Two I had a situation where the ceiling fan LIGHT and FAN went on at least three times while trying to sleep. The same maintenance person came and replaced something in the ceiling remote (sim/battery, not sure) and said “he was going home”. The on and off ceiling fan issue happened at other buildings on the property as I also leased two other rooms for my kids. Night Three, only one issue with the ceiling light/fan going autonomously off and on. Lastly, there was no phone in my Avalon room so I had to walk to the front desk on this. The front desk gave me a number to text in the absence of a phone in the unit. I think this is a property wide approach. Other guests at the Avalon property that we met had similar complaints. One positive, the housekeeping staff in Avalon were outstanding.

Please know that their advertising is deceiving for room types. They acknowledged that their descriptions are not accurate. They offer the following: Partial Ocean View King, Ocean View Balcony 2 Queen, Ocean View King, Ocean Front Balcony King. I booked an Ocean View Balcony Queen expecting a full ocean view. What we were given was a partial ocean view. Apparently, they do not offer an Ocean Front Balcony Queen. I think their descriptions are deceiving and any Queen room should be labeled as "partial". We had less than a 30-degree view of the ocean looking off our balcony. With the amount of money, we spent per night, I was disappointed, and we will not be returning.
