Yerevan Mall
Yerevan, Armenia
Yerevan’s top location for one-stop shopping, this multi-floor complex boasts over 200 stores and branded boutiques. Expect a mix of local and international brands, including heavyweights like Mango and Zara, and a Carrefour supermarket. It’s also home to an indoor playground and amusement center for kids—Captain Kid’s—as well as a movie theater showing films in 4K.
The basics
The Yerevan Mall is popular with Armenians, who come from near and far to shop, dine, catch a film, or hop a ride at Captain Kid’s. It is also a great choice for travelers looking for a break from sightseeing or museums. Meanwhile, families will enjoy Captain Kid’s, which has classic rides like carousels and bumper cars, plus arcade games where you can win prizes.
Things to know before you go
- Yerevan Mall has a food court filled with both Armenian and international options, including American fast-food chains.
- If you’re planning to shop, you can expect slightly higher prices than you’d find in either Western Europe or North America for most branded items. Visitors can typically pay with cash or credit card.
- If you’re only visiting the shopping part of the mall, then count on around two hours. If you plan on catching a film or heading to Captain Kid’s, then plan for a half-day or longer.
- The mall is climate-controlled and equipped with Wi-Fi.
How to get there
By car, the mall is only about 10 to 15 minutes from the city center; luckily, taxis and rideshares in Yerevan are both inexpensive and readily available. You could also take the metro: From Republic Square, take M1 toward Garegin Nzhdeh Square, ride two stops and get off at Sasuntsi David. However, be prepared to walk about 15 minutes along busy roads and cross Arshakunyats Avenue on foot.
When to get there
The mall is typically open from mid-morning until late in the evening. The beauty of this climate-controlled indoor space is that it’s accessible year-round, even during the snowy, frigid winter months and hot summers. It also makes for a great refuge on rainy days. Avoid weekend afternoons for a quieter experience, especially if you’re making a family trip to Captain Kid’s.
How does Dalma Garden Mall compare to Yerevan Mall?
Dalma Garden Mall is closer to the city center than Yerevan Mall (around 40 minutes on foot from Republic Square, near the Ararat Museum of Armenian brandy and the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide memorial), making it a better option for anyone who prefers to walk and see other sights. You can expect more upscale brands and luxury designers at Dalma Garden, as well as high-end restaurants.
