A compact water park with a varied range of slides, Watercity Water Park is located midway between Heraklion and Hersonissos. Slides include a long, slow “Crazy River” raft ride, a boomerang ride, a vortex-style slide, a Tarzan swing, and more. You can also enjoy a wave pool, a lazy river, two children’s pools, and a selection of children’s slides.
The Basics
Travelers generally visit Watercity Water Park from Heraklion and the resorts around it, but others come from Hersonissos, Malia, and even Agios Nikolaos. It’s generally cheaper to prebook tickets online than to pay at the park. Kids under 4 feet 7 inches tall (140 centimeters tall) get a discount, while kids under 3 feet tall (90 centimeters tall) get in free. Some packages include transfers, generally either from Heraklion or Hersonissos, and you can buy food and drink inside the park.

Some of the most exciting slides are only for travelers above 4 feet 7 inches (140 centimeters). Other height and weight restrictions also apply.
Consider bringing pool shoes, as surfaces can get hot in high summer.
Purchases within the park are by wristband. Settle up when you leave—and face a hefty fine if you’ve lost the band.
There is wheelchair access to much of the park, but slides and pools are not adapted.
How to Get There
Watercity Water Park is in Anopolis, roughly halfway between Heraklion and Hersonissos; it’s about a 10-mile (16-kilometer) drive east of Heraklion’s old town. As Watercity is set some way off the main road, public transport isn’t a practical option, so consider booking a tour that includes transfers.
When to Get There
Watercity Water Park operates during the summer season only, typically from mid-May until early October. It’s open from morning to early evening during the July and August peak, closing a little earlier outside those times. During peak season, avoid weekends to beat the crowds.

Besides Watercity Water Park, Heraklion has lots of choices for kids who’ve had enough of the beach. Children can learn about the Minoans at the Archaeological Museum and the Palace of Knossos or explore Greek myth through play at the Labyrinth Theme Park. Dino-obsessed little ones will love the Dinosauria Park, not far from the CretAquarium, while cooking classes and farm visits are great options, too.
