Titanic Pigeon Forge
2134 Parkway, Pigeon Forge, TN
At the Titanic Museum, built to resemble the British ocean liner at half-scale, you take self-guided, interactive audio tours designed to share the history of the ship and its ill-fated maiden voyage of 1912. You’ll receive a boarding ticket with the name and traveling class of a historical passenger whose story is revealed as they explore interactive exhibits—and learn if their passenger survived.
The museum is among the world's largest permanent museums dedicated to the Titanic and has no shortage of interactive experiences: 20 galleries hold hundreds of recovered artifacts, including items belonging to passengers, and offer the chance to sit in imitation lifeboats, play a grand piano similar to the one lost at sea, walk a replica Grand Staircase, and take the wheel on the bridge. You can buy your admission tickets online or in person.
An average visit takes roughly two hours.
The Titanic Museum is ideal for travelers interested in the history of the early 20th century, and the Titanic in particular.
The museum entrance and elevators are wheelchair accessible.
Admission tickets are valid for a full year beyond the purchase date.
There’s no food service.
The museum is north of central Pigeon Forge along the Great Smoky Mountains Parkway, the town’s main thoroughfare. Line 2 of the Pigeon Forge Mass Transit trolley system runs from the Trolley Station on Old Mill Drive in the Old Mill District almost directly to the museum—the nearest stop is at the Buttonwillow Civil War Theatre. Other options include rental cars and rare, multi-day Great Smoky Mountains tours stopping at attractions in Pigeon Forge.
Pigeon Forge is a popular travel destination year-round. Visit in (snowy) winter to avoid the crowds and in spring and summer to spend time outdoors. Spring break is often hectic with students visiting the Dollywood theme park and other attractions. The Titanic Museum holds themed public events roughly 1-2 times a month, including “Christmas at the Titanic” and others introducing new exhibits and historical collections.
One of three gateway towns to the Great Smoky Mountains—alongside Gatlinburg and Sevierville—Pigeon Forge has a vacation getaway and mountain resort town feel, and plenty of things to do year-round. Top options include visiting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park itself; checking out Dollywood, a theme park dedicated to the locally-born country music legend; riding the Smoky Mountains Alpine Coaster, among the longest downhill coaster tracks in the US; and visiting local wineries.
