Sphere

Opened just off the Las Vegas Strip in 2023, this spherical music and entertainment arena hosts various artist residencies and shows throughout the year—including its inaugural performer, U2. During the ongoing Sphere Experience, visitors are also greeted by Aura, a humanoid robot that explains the venue’s cutting-edge tech. This introduction is followed by an immersive film by director Darren Aronofsky called Postcard From Earth, which takes viewers on a journey from the Antarctic across 15 different global locations and into space.

Even if you don’t get tickets to an event or experience at the Sphere, you can still easily spot its 580,000-square-foot (54,000-square-meter) LED exterior, called the Exosphere—it can be seen from space, so you can certainly view it from various places in Vegas. Original content is continuously played on the Exosphere, which rises above the Strip like a giant flashy bubble for all to see.

• Accessible seating is available. The Sphere also offers seating with movable armrests and larger chairs without armrests.

• Keep in mind that some events may include elements such as seat haptics, movement sensations, flashing lights, intense lighting, visual effects, loud noises, and atmospheric simulations that may aggravate certain medical or physical conditions.

• Large bags and backpacks are not permitted inside the venue. Small clutches, purses, and fanny packs, as well as diaper bags and bags required for medical items, are allowed.

• Accessible water fountains are located throughout the venue.

To visit the Sphere, take the Las Vegas Monorail—which runs from the Sahara to the MGM Grand—to the Harrah’s/LINQ station; from there, it’s a short walk to the arena. On-site parking is available in case you drive, and cabs and rideshare services are readily available throughout Vegas.

The Sphere Experience film, Postcard From Earth, runs Sundays–Tuesdays and Thursdays, with several showtimes throughout the day. In addition to the entertainment taking place inside the Sphere, Vegas visitors can catch a show of sorts just by viewing the venue’s Exosphere. Generative artificial intelligence artist Refik Anadol was the first artist to “paint” on the massive LED paneling. Called Machine Hallucinations: Sphere, the digital experience was designed to take advantage of the structure’s unique architecture and used images from the Hubble Space Telescope and the International Space Station, as well as photos of flora and fauna, to create trippy visuals.
