Sky Bar

The Dome, 63rd Floor at The, 1055 Silom, Bang Rak, Bangkok, THA

Bangkok’s Sky Bar is one of the highest rooftop bars in the world, and one of the most exclusive bars in the Thai capital. It’s located on the 63rd floor of the State Tower. For a special date, to celebrate an occasion, or just to enjoy a sophisticated evening with delicious drinks in an unforgettable location, the Sky Bar is a good option.

The Sky Bar is a dizzying 820 feet (250 meters) above Bangkok. As well as its views, the bar is well-known for its high-quality cocktails and whisky. It’s been named as one of the best rooftop bars in the world by many high-profile magazines and newspapers, and has won hospitality awards. Located in the Silom district, it has great views of the Chao Phraya River and the city. Most travelers visit the bar independently after a day of sightseeing in Bangkok.

  • The neighboring restaurant Sirocco serves Mediterranean cuisine, and is also highly regarded.
  • Sky Bar’s drinks are expensive by Thai standards, but you’re getting a whole experience--and an incredible view--for the price.
  • The bar has a smart casual dress code, which is strictly enforced. Don’t just turn up in whatever you’ve been wearing all day. No shorts, flip flops, beachwear, or sportswear. Men should also not wear open-toed shoes or sleeveless tops. The dress code also applies to children.
  • Large bags, shopping bags, and luggage are not permitted at the bar, and there is no storage facility.

Sky Bar is on Silom Road, in the Silom neighborhood. The nearest BTS Skytrain station is Saphan Taksin, from which it’s about a 10-minute walk. But, if you’re dressing up for a sophisticated night out, you might prefer to take a taxi.

The bar is open daily from 6pm until 1am. Sunset is a great time to visit the Sky Bar, as the views over Bangkok are particularly impressive at this time of day.

If the Sky Bar isn’t your scene, check out the nightlife of Khao San Road instead. This short stretch of shops, hotels, bars, restaurants, and street food stands is the heart of Bangkok’s backpacker culture. It’s not upmarket, but Khao San Road is a great place to try Thai street food, shop for souvenirs, and drink beers or cocktails in bucket-sized proportions.
