POINT OF INTEREST

Shipwreck Island Waterpark

12201 Hutchison Blvd., Panama City Beach, Florida

Shipwreck Island Waterpark originally was a single waterslide in 1976, but ride-by-ride and drop-by-drop, it turned into a 15-acre (6-hectare) waterpark that’s a popular summertime destination on the Florida Panhandle. This Panama City Beach attraction features a lazy river, a wave pool, inner tube rafting, a zipline drop, and other water attractions for all ages.

You can spend all day splashing, sun tanning, and savoring summer vacation at Shipwreck Island Waterpark, which has seven different dining options. If you want to dine elsewhere, you can get a hand stamp to leave the park and return on the same day. Of the 12 attractions, three have height restrictions. Parents with little ones will find Splash Cove, Tadpole Hole, and Skull Island great for younger children.

  • Life jackets and inner tubes are provided for free; lockers are available for rent.

  • Admission prices are based on height for most guests, and height restrictions on rides are strictly enforced.

  • The park is cashless, but you can load money onto a Splash Cash waterproof wristband.

Shipwreck Island Waterpark is located at 12201 Hutchison Boulevard in Panama City Beach, Florida. It is one block north of the beach, where you’ll find a bus stop for the No. 7 line. You’ll need to park your car in their free parking lot or take a taxi/rideshare, as there is no public transportation to the waterpark.

Shipwreck Island Waterpark typically opens at the end of April and closes around Labor Day weekend. Hours vary by date, so it’s essential to check an updated schedule before visiting. April, May, and mid-to-late August have the fewest crowds. The best time to visit is early in the day, before the temperatures rise and storms roll in. Surprisingly, Sundays and Fridays are slow in the summer, making it a perfect weekend activity.

Shipwreck Island Waterpark is close to other great family-friendly attractions, most of which are on Hutchison Boulevard within 3 miles (5 kilometers) of the splash zone. A trampoline park, axe throwing, and bowling are one block east. You’ll also pass multiple mini-golf courses, WonderWorks, Coconut Creek Family Fun Park, Race City, Cobra Adventure Park, and Ripley’s Believe It or Not! It's near the ZooWorld Zoological Park, too.
