River Safari

The Basics

River Safari’s more than 30 acres (12 hectares) of exhibits are inspired by eight of the world’s most iconic rivers: the Mississippi, Nile, Amazon, Congo, Ganges, Mekong, and Yangtze. Stroll along walkways and through aquariums to see alligators, manatees, monkeys, giant anteaters, and tigers. Highlights include the Giant Panda Forest, boat cruises around the park’s reservoir, and touch pools where children can interact with small sea creatures.

The River Safari is one of Singapore’s four Wildlife Reserves. Visitors can purchase individual tickets to the parks or combination passes.

Things to Know Before You Go

• River Safari admission tickets include a Reservoir Cruise ride; some other activities charge an extra fee. Children under 3 enter for free.

• The majority of exhibits are outdoors, so wear weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable walking shoes, and pack sunscreen, insect repellent, and a refillable water bottle.

• The park has a selection of gift shops, cafés, and restaurants. There is also an ATM, water fountains, storage lockers, and free Wi-Fi.

• The park is accessible for wheelchairs and strollers, though some activities may have limited access.

How to Get There

River Safari is located on the banks of the Upper Seletar Reservoir, about 16 miles (26 kilometers) north of downtown Singapore. The closest train station is Khatib MRT Station (the North-South Line), and free shuttle buses run from the station to the park every 20 minutes; the trip takes about 15 minutes. Direct shuttle buses also run to the park hourly from Suntec City in downtown Singapore. The park is about a 30-minute drive from the city; paid parking is available on site.

When to Get There

River Safari is open daily from mid-morning through the early evening.The park can get crowded, especially on weekends and during school holidays. Activities such as the Amazon River Quest and the Reservoir Cruise are available on a first-come first-served basis, so head to those first to ensure you don’t miss a spot.

Wildlife Reserves Singapore

Wildlife Reserves Singapore is a series of parks devoted to wildlife protection and conservation. After exploring the River Safari, head to Singapore Zoo, where animals like orangutans, elephants, and lions roam 64 acres (26 hectares) of rainforest. The Night Safari’s after-dark tours offer a rare chance to spot nocturnal animals, such as fishing cats and Malayan tigers. At Jurong Bird Park, you can admire colorful hornbills, birds of prey, and three different penguin species.
