Rembrandts Amsterdam Experience

Weteringschans 2, Amsterdam, Netherlands, 1017

Offering a uniquely immersive and innovative way to experience Rembrandt’s art, the Rembrandts Amsterdam Experience invites visitors to step back in time to 1663, where they’ll tour a multimedia recreation of the artist’s last studio. Complete with video projections and multi-dimensional special effects, the experience brings 17th-century Amsterdam to life, and makes Rembrandt’s work and story widely accessible.

The basics

More dynamic and attention-grabbing than a traditional museum experience, the Rembrandts Amsterdam Experience is ideal for visiting families (and anyone else looking for an immersive art experience). Located in the heart of the city, it’s easy to fit into a full day of sightseeing. While tickets can be purchased on the door, it’s worth securing yours in advance to guarantee entry (and to take advantage of package deals, which include other Amsterdam experiences).

The experience—which is narrated by characters including Rembrandt, as well as members of his family—starts every 10 minutes, and lasts roughly half an hour, so younger visitors should remain entertained throughout. You can also upgrade for the VIP experience, which includes a custom photo experience and a treat at the end.

How to get there

The Rembrandts Amsterdam Experience is located at Weteringschans 2, at the southern edge of Amsterdam’s Canal Ring district. The landmark can be reached via metro line 52 to Vijzelgracht station. The area is also served by numerous trams, including the 2, 5, 12, and 19.

When to get there

The Rembrandts Amsterdam Experience is open daily, from late morning until evening. While you don’t have to reserve your entry in advance, it may still be wise to do so if you plan to visit during busy times, such as weekends and school holidays.

Rembrandt House Museum

To expand your artistic discovery of Amsterdam, it’s worth pairing a visit to the Rembrandts Amsterdam Experience with the Rembrandt House Museum. Located in the building where Rembrandt lived and worked from 1639 to 1658, the museum takes visitors back to Rembrandt’s life and times, and displays a collection of his works.
