POINT OF INTEREST

Peace Center

300 S Main St, Greenville, SC

Thanks to the Peace Center, Greenville in South Carolina has become the arts hub between Charlotte and Atlanta. Right downtown and just steps from the city’s beloved waterfall at Falls Park, this concert hall, theater, and amphitheater offers varied live entertainment throughout the year, from Broadway to comedians to dance companies.

On the corner of Broad St. and Main St., the Peace Center's 6-acre (2.5-hectare) campus is pretty to look at and even includes a venue for outdoor concerts. More than 300 events fill the annual calendar; it's likely when you’re here, there will be some stage that’s lit up and some audience that’s ready for a good time. The venue is a city landmark. Catch it on any exploratory city tour, be it on foot, Segway, or e-bike.

  • The Peace Center is a cashless venue, so bring that card.

  • Only bottled water is allowed in indoor venues.

  • The center is fully accessible, with wheelchairs and hearing devices available.

  • While every show is different, it’s best to buy your tickets well in advance.

There is no onsite parking at the Peace Center; those with vehicles should utilize the city’s various parking garages or street meters. If you’re able, it’s better to walk here; Main St. is pedestrian-friendly and quite scenic. Otherwise, rideshares are available and a free trolley zips around downtown.

If you’ve got tickets to a show, try to arrive 20–30 minutes in advance of showtime. That’ll give you enough time to locate your seat, use the facilities, and scope out the treats and merch tables. Otherwise, during the day, there’s no bad time to explore the venue’s grounds.

If you’re in Greenville anytime from May to August, try to catch one of the outdoor summer shows or city events that happen at The Pavilion. With outdoor space for 1,200 guests along an overlook of the Reedy River, this is one spot where there’s not a bad seat in the house.
