Nynashamn Cruise Port
Oljehamnsvägen 6, Nynashamn, Sweden, 149 41
Nynäshamn Cruise Port is a gateway to the Swedish capital of Stockholm, as well as a jumping-off point for ferries servicing the region and as far as Gdansk. Visitors can explore the wider Swedish archipelago from Nynäshamn, or reach Stockholm—which is about 40 miles (65 kilometers) south—by train, bus, or taxi in around an hour.
The basics
A shore excursion with port pickup and drop-off allows you to see most of Stockholm's highlights in just a few hours. Shore excursions typically include a tour of the Old Town (Gamla Stan) and visit to the Vasa Museum, focused on the area's maritime history. The Nynäshamn Cruise Port is a short ferry ride away from the peaceful island of Gotland, home to the UNESCO-listed town of Visby.
Things to know before you go
Nynäshamn Cruise Port is one of five ports with proximity to Stockholm—the others are Värtahamnen, Skeppsbron, Frihamnen, and Stadsgården.
A retractable, floating seawalk pier allows visitors to disembark and walk across the pier to dry land.
On Sunday, many Stockholm businesses close or operate with limited hours.
How to get to Stockholm from Nynäshamn Cruise Port
Stockholm is connected to the Nynäshamn Cruise Port via the Pendeltåg (commuter train), which operates roughly every half hour and takes around one hour to get to Stockholm Central Station. The station is a 10-minute walk from the port. There's also a shuttle bus in operation every morning and afternoon, and other local bus lines. By car, the journey takes roughly 45 minutes.
Port information
Nynäshamn Cruise Port has the capacity for the largest cruise liners. The official language of Sweden is Swedish, although English and other Scandinavian languages are also widely spoken. The official currency is the Swedish krona though many businesses only accept credit cards. Accommodations are available near the port for travelers who arrive late or have early connections.
