Mtatsminda Park

Situated atop Mount Mtatsminda, the park offers excellent views over Tbilisi, especially if you take a spin on the 213-foot (65-meter) Ferris wheel—you might even glimpse the Caucasus Mountains in the distance. Three sections contain rides appropriate for different ages: the kids’ zone, the family zone, and the extreme zone.

Tbilisi sightseeing tours, by foot or by vehicle, typically include a short visit to Mtatsminda Park. If you want to spend more time there, however, you can buy a ticket for unlimited access to the rides and entertainment. Alternatively, pay for each ride as you go (with cash).

• Mtatsminda Park has various eateries, picnic areas, and souvenir shops on-site.

• The park isn’t accessible to wheelchairs.

• Animals and bicycles aren’t permitted in the park.

You can reach Mtatsminda Park by bus 124 from Rustaveli Avenue (about a 20-minute journey), or via funicular from Kakabadze Street. Rustaveli is the closest metro station, roughly a 30-minute walk away.

Mtatsminda Park is normally open every day year-round until late at night. Weekends and school holidays are usually busiest. Go after dark for attractive views of the lit-up city.

On the slope of the mountain, outside St. David’s Church, the Mtatsminda Pantheon of Writers and Public Figures is a necropolis that’s the final resting place of some of Georgia’s best known writers, artists, scholars, and national heroes. Prominent figures include the poet Akaki Tsereteli and the painter Lado Gudiashvili.
