How to Get There

Zagreb city tours, walking tours, and even some seasonal tours stop by the popular Mirogoj Cemetery, though public transit is also workable. The 106 bus is the most convenient route if you're traveling from Zagreb Cathedral. Alternatively, you can take the 14 tram from Zagreb's main square to the Gupceva Zvijezda stop. For a scenic return trip, hike from the Mirogoj Cemetery toward Zagreb's Upper Town; the downhill stroll is about 40 minutes.

When to Get There

Though there's really no bad time to visit Mirogoj Cemetery, arriving in spring means you can enjoy the landscaped greenery in bloom, while autumn brings changing leaves. Local families typically come to decorate family graves at least twice yearly, on Remembrance Day and All Saints' Day. Visit in the days following these two holidays to enjoy the graves and memorials adorned with flowers.
