Mestalla Stadium (Estadio De Mestalla)
Avenida de Suècia, Valencia, Spain, 46010
Home to Valencia Club de Fútbol, Mestalla Stadium (Estadio de Mestalla) is one of Spain’s oldest soccer stadiums. Book a guided tour to learn about the stadium’s past, visit areas that are not usually accessible to the public—including the changing rooms and the pitch—and scale the vertigo-inducing North Stand seating.
The Basics
The Mestalla Stadium was originally built in 1923 to accommodate 17,000 spectators but has been expanded over the years and now offers seating for more than 50,000. In addition to allowing access to behind-the-scenes areas, guided tours also offer information about the venue’s past—including the stadium’s history as a concentration camp during the Spanish Civil War. For a more rousing trip, visit on a match day and immerse yourself in the rowdy atmosphere.
Things to Know Before You Go
A visit to the Mestalla Stadium is a must for soccer fans in Valencia.
Visitors without a head for heights may wish to skip the nosebleed-steep North Stands.
Guided tours of the Mestalla Stadium are available throughout the day in English, Valencian, and Spanish and take about an hour.
Mestalla Stadium is both wheelchair and stroller accessible, but guided tours may not be fully accessible. Email in advance for more information.
How to Get There
Mestalla Stadium is close to Valencia’s historic center and is roughly a 30-minute walk from many hotels and attractions. You can also reach Mestalla Stadium by metro: Both the Aragón (Line 5) and Facultats (Line 3) stations are about a 5-minute walk from the stadium.
When to Get There
Guided tours of Mestalla Stadium are available throughout the day all year round except for on Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, and King’s Day. On match days, Sundays, and holidays, tours are only available in the morning. League games—which usually run from September to May—are typically played on Saturdays and Sundays.
Sports in Valencia
There’s plenty for soccer fans and other sport enthusiasts to see and do in Valencia. After visiting Mestalla Stadium, browse for soccer shirts at one of the city’s many official merchandise stores, catch a basketball game at the Pavelló Municipal Font de San Lluís, or head to the coast to take a windsurfing lesson.
