Buy tickets for Melaka Bird Park independently or as part of a combo package for other attractions in the Ayer Keroh district, such as Zoo Melaka and Night Safari, Melaka Wonderland, or the Melaka Butterfly and Reptile Sanctuary. Combo packages can be a particularly good value if you don’t have your own wheels, as the area isn’t really set up for independent travelers, and public transport involves a lot of walking. As usual, there are discounts for Malaysian identity-card holders, children, and senior citizens.

How to Get There

The Melaka Bird Park is located in Ayer Keroh, around 9 miles (14 kilometers) north of Melaka’s historic center. It’s close to Zoo Melaka and Night Safari, the Mini Malaysia and ASEAN Cultural Park, and other attractions. While it is possible to reach the bird park by bus from the Melaka Sentral station, it’s much easier to book a tour that includes round-trip transfers or simply drive.

When to Get There

The Melaka Bird Park is open from morning until early evening seven days a week. It’s at its busiest on weekends and during Malaysian school holidays, but is rarely crowded.

Melaka offers parents (and animal lovers) a surprising wealth of animal attractions, most of them in the Ayer Keroh district. In addition to the Melaka Bird Park, choose between Zoo Melaka and Night Safari, A’Famosa Safari Wonderland, the Melaka Butterfly and Reptile Sanctuary, and the Shore Oceanarium. It’s worth being aware that animal-welfare standards are lower in Southeast Asia generally than in the developed West.
