Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino
3950 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, NV, 89119
Anchoring the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip since 1999, Mandalay Bay is an upscale resort that has stayed fresh and exciting thanks to regular renovations through the years. From shopping and dining to catching a show, the resort’s on-site activities and amenities provide endless entertainment for both guests and visitors.
The basics
The 43-story, gold-hued resort towers above the Las Vegas Strip and houses more than 3,000 rooms and suites. One of its most notable features is Mandalay Beach, which has a wave pool, lazy river, and artificial beach. While Mandalay Beach access is for registered hotel guests only, visitors can enjoy entertainment at the 12,000-seat Michelob ULTRA Arena, explore the Shark Reef aquarium, enjoy a meal at one of Mandalay Bay’s extensive dining options, and try your luck in the casino.
Several nightlife tours of Las Vegas include a visit to Mandalay Bay’s Foundation Room nightclub and typically include VIP skip-the-line admission.
Things to know before you go
- While Mandalay Bay is a nightlife hot spot, it has plenty of family-friendly attractions as well, including the Shark Reef Aquarium.
- The resort has dog-friendly rooms (maximum two dogs per room).
- Wheelchairs and scooters are available to use for a fee.
- Visitors must be at least 21 to enter the gaming area.
How to get there
Mandalay Bay is located at the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip, a short walk from the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign. The resort is a 10-minute drive from Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), and both valet and self-parking is available for a daily fee. There is a designated rideshare area at the Convention Center entrance, as well as a free monorail that connects Mandalay Bay, Luxor Resort and Casino, and Excalibur Hotel and Casino.
When to get there
Many visitors time their visit to catch a show at one of Mandalay Bay’s entertainment venues—check the resort’s online calendar to see what’s coming up. Las Vegas is typically best in the spring and fall; summer temperatures in the desert are often oppressively high, while winter nights can get chilly.
Minus5 Ice Bar
One of Mandalay Bay’s top attractions is the Minus5 Ice Bar, just inside the Shoppes at Mandalay Place. Everything here—including the seats, bar, walls, and sculptures—is made out of ice and the temperature is always set to 23°F (-5°C). Sipping a drink here is a great way to really cool down after a hot day in the desert.
