Malta Falconry Centre

Situated on the outskirts of Siggiewi, the Malta Falconry Centre is the only place of its kind in the country. The center breeds native species of birds of prey with the goal of re-introducing them—and the ancient art of falconry—to the island nation.
The Basics
Visit the Malta Falconry Centre to watch falconers fly several different species of birds of prey. Falconers are on hand to provide information on every bird flown and to answer questions. Species in the center’s aviary include the peregrine (or Maltese) falcon, the golden eagle, the African fish eagle, the steppe eagle, and the griffon vulture. The center also offers bird-handling sessions and educational talks for student groups.

There is a souvenir shop and a cafe with free Wi-Fi on site.
Children under three years old enter for free.
The center is not wheelchair accessible.
How to Get There
The Malta Falconry Centre is close to a variety of other attractions, including the Blue Grotto, the Hagar Qim temple complex, and the Laferla Cross. To take public transportation from Valletta, take bus number 62 to Pjazza San Nikola (in Siggiewi); from there it’s a 10-minute walk to the center, and there are signposts along the way. The center also offers free on-site parking and is a stop on most hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus tours.
When to Get There
The Malta Falconry Centre is open Tuesday–Sunday, from morning until lunchtime. Last entry is 30 minutes before closing.The center is closed on December 25, January 1, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, August 15, September 3.
Adopt a Bird
The Malta Falconry Centre offers the opportunity to adopt a bird from its collection to help support conservation efforts. You can adopt any bird or birds—as many as you wish. Adoption includes two certificates, one for the holder and one to be kept one at the center’s main entrance; a set of photos and details about the adopted bird are sent by email.
