Limestone Heritage Park and Gardens

The basics

Along with its regular limestone-focused exhibits and gardens, the park is big on private events and activities. Its Waterfall Gardens are used as a wedding venue, and the park offers team-building opportunities for groups along with olive oil tastings, archery practice, and workshops on how to carve stone or make limoncello. The park is a popular stop on full-day history tours and multi-day island tours.

How to get there

Limestone Heritage is located in Siggiewi about a 15-minute drive from Valletta or a 10-minute drive from Mdina. Siggiewi is well-connected to the rest of the island by bus, and the Saura bus station is about a 5-minute walk. Buses to the Valetta area take around an hour, and direct service is available on lines 62 and 74.

When to get there

The Limestone Heritage, Park and Gardens is open Monday through Friday morning until late afternoon and on Saturday mornings. It's closed on Sunday. The last entry is half an hour before closing time. If you’re visiting in summer, it's wise to come first thing in the morning to avoid the heat of the day—and the crowds.

The Ta’ Qali Crafts Village

If you're interested in crafts beyond sculpture, head to the Ta’ Qali Crafts Village, which occupies an abandoned World War II airfield. Here you can pick up all sorts of unusual souvenirs, from filigree jewelry depicting the Maltese cross to colorful handblown glass. Even if you don’t plan to buy anything, it’s a great place to watch artisans in action.
