Leolandia
Via Vittorio Veneto 52, Capriate San Gervasio, Lombardy, 24042
There’s something for every fun-loving family member at the eclectic Leolandia park, with attractions from impressive models of some of Italy’s most iconic monuments to lighthearted water rides and an exotic bird sanctuary with live shows. If your kids need a break from the bustle of Milan, take a day trip to this unique amusement park.
The basics
The closest theme park to Milan, Leolandia began with Minitalia, a collection of 160 miniature models of famous sights like St. Peter’s Square in Rome and the Leaning Tower of Pisa, but has expanded over the decades to encompass a whimsical variety of different themed areas, home to 40 rides and other attractions. Smaller tots can be entertained with Thomas the Tank Engine, Masha and The Bear, and other popular character-inspired rides; thrill-seeking older kids have a number of mild coasters, free-falls, and water rapids to conquer. For a truly Italian twist, there’s even an area of the park dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, with rides modeled on his Renaissance inventions. Animal lovers can visit the aquarium, reptile house, petting zoo, and exotic bird sanctuary with live parrot shows.
Things to know before you go
*The park’s rides and attractions are sorted by height and geared at younger kids, from toddlers through pre-teens. *You’ll be spending the day on your feet, so choose comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. *There are fast-food stands, a pizzeria, and table-service restaurants offering an ample array of dining choices (including gluten-free dishes) inside the park. *The park is completely accessible to wheelchair users, and detailed information regarding the accessibility of individual rides can be requested at the park entrance.
How to get there
There are park shuttle buses from Milan (Piazza della Repubblica) and Bergamo (Piazzale Marconi) or if coming by car take the A4 Milano Venezia motorway to the Capriate S. Gervasio exit.
