POINT OF INTEREST

Jackson Hole Rodeo

447 Snow King Ave, Jackson Hole, WY, 83001-8948

Even though the Jackson Hole Rodeo is only alive and booming from Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day, visitors who come to the Cowboy State flock to this Wyoming wild-west staple. With bucking bronco riding, roping events, barrel racing, and other Western culture competitions, getting a little dirt on your boots is easy, even as a spectator.

The basics

To get into the Jackson Hole Rodeo, you must have an admission ticket—tickets can easily be purchased online in advance and there are also VIP options available, such as a behind the chutes experience to see the rodeo in its rawest form. Keep in mind that the rodeo only runs for a few months, so you’ll want to book your admission early to guarantee entry.

Things to know before you go

  • You’re not allowed to bring any food or drinks into the Jackson Hole Rodeo, but there are plenty of concession stands selling refreshments.

  • No dogs—not even service dogs—are allowed inside.

  • Never try to touch the rodeo animals—they are wild animals used for the rodeo contests and are unpredictable.

  • Check the weather ahead of your booked rodeo date: If it’s going to rain, come prepared, as the rodeo goes ahead, rain or shine.

How to get there

The Jackson Hole Rodeo is in Downtown Jackson at 447 Snow King Avenue, located at the Teton County Fairgrounds. Be aware that while there is parking at the fairground, it can fill up early. You can also bike to the site or take the city bus.

When to get there

The Jackson Hill Rodeo shows start at 8pm, but it’s recommended to arrive by at least by 7:15pm to find seating for your preferred show. The gates open at 6:30pm, so you can come earlier if you wish. For cooler weather, head to the rodeo in September.

A national park paradise

Jackson Hole Rodeo is within a short distance of both Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park. You can either plan a day at each park, or book guided tours that take you into both on different days. Either way, it’s worth a visit if you’re staying close to either or both.
