On the 56th floor of Singapore’s ION Orchard shopping and lifestyle complex, the ION Sky observation deck delivers 360-degree panoramic views across skyscrapers, greenery, the Singapore River, and the South China Sea. One floor below, Salt Grill and Sky Bar offers dinner and drinks with a view.
The basics
Spend at least S$20 in one of the hundreds of stores that occupy ION Orchard’s labyrinthine lower levels, then show your receipt to the ION Sky concierge to receive a ticket valid for up to 30 days. One person is allowed to collect up to five tickets, but premium time slots can get booked up fast—plan on shopping first and visiting later.
Even on a cloudy day, you can enjoy ION Sky’s informative multimedia shows, covering everything from Singapore history to the island’s street food. Things to know before you go
ION Sky is a great choice for photographers, Instagrammers, and anyone who loves a good view.
The deck is not open to the elements, so kinder to travelers who are scared of heights than some other high-rise viewpoints.
Like the rest of the ION Orchard complex, ION Sky is fully accessible to travelers who use wheelchairs, with adapted bathrooms, spacious elevators, and smooth, wide pathways. Wheelchair and stroller rentals are reserved for ION Rewards members.
How to get there
ION Sky sits within the ION Orchard complex at the heart of Orchard Road, accessed by an elevator from the ION Art gallery on Level 4. Catch the North-South (red) MRT line to Orchard station; escalators and elevators connect directly to the ION Orchard complex up above.
When to get there
There’s no such thing as a guaranteed clear day in humid, tropical Singapore, but rain is most common in the afternoon. “Haze” from regional fires can be an issue between June and September; February is the driest month with the best chance of clear skies.
