Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial

Boise, ID

Located at The Wassmuth Center for Human Rights, the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial is an educational park that encourages visitors to recognize and act on human rights challenges in the community and the world. A life-sized bronze statue of Anne Frank is at the center of the memorial, while human rights quotes from various sources and periods are etched in stone throughout the monument.

The basics

The Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial was created after a traveling Anne Frank exhibit came to Boise in 1995, attracting thousands of visitors. This permanent tribute was opened to the public in 2002 and is intended to increase the discourse and action around human rights. Within the memorial, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is displayed in its entirety. It also contains a water feature, a garden, an outdoor classroom, and quote walls. Most visitors come to the memorial independently, but you may also stop here if you join a Boise scavenger hunt tour.

Things to know before you go

  • The outdoor memorial is free to visit.
  • The memorial is part of the adjacent Wassmuth Center for Human Rights.
  • Kids can attend Kindness Camp at the memorial during the summer, where concepts of diversity, belonging, and responsibility are discussed in an age-appropriate way.
