Grand Parlour at the Scottish Rite Cathedral
160 S Scott Ave., Tucson, AZ
Though typically the home of Tucson's Scottish Rite—a Masonic organization—the Scottish Rite Grand Parlour is also a sizable venue, hosting everything from private events and weddings to illusionist shows, which are ticketed events. It features a stage, piano, and capacity topping 500 guests.
Though the Grand Parlour isn't always hosting events, you can visit the space when attending a performance from one of Tucson's stage acts, including the always popular Carnival of Illusion. To see a Carnival of Illusion show, prebook tickets and choose your preferred seats in advance. You can easily pair a show at the Grand Parlour with visits to downtown attractions, including the Museum of Contemporary Art and Tucson Music Hall.
Architecture fans appreciate the 1915 building, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Be sure to look up to see design details on the hand-carved ceilings.
Kids aged 8 and up can enjoy a Carnival of Illusion performance.
The venue is wheelchair accessible, offering a wheelchair lift and elevator access to upper floors.
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in the venue.
The Grand Parlour is located in Downtown Tucson, and most travelers drive and utilize the venue's free, off-street parking. If you prefer to take public transit, hop on the 700 light rail line to the SL/Broadway/Sixth Avenue stop—or take the bus along Sixth Avenue—and get out at 12th Street.
Plan to see a specific show at the Grand Parlour since the venue isn't always hosting events. Arrive a few minutes early to park in the private lot and find your way inside to your seats. Depending on the show, start times vary, although Carnival of Illusion performances typically start at 4:30pm.
You can find Tuscon's Museum of Contemporary Art (known as MOCA) located about a 5-minute walk from Grand Parlour. Enjoy the forward-thinking exhibitions at MOCA before a show at the Grand Parlour. The museum's hours vary by season, and curator tours are free with admission. For the best value, stop by on the last Sunday of the month, when admission is free.
