Located within the Fremont Street Experience, a pedestrian mall in downtown Las Vegas, the Golden Nugget is a fun alternative to the hotels and casinos on the Strip. It dates back to the 1940s, making it one of the oldest casino resorts in the city, and is famous for the "Hand of Faith," a massive gold nugget that's on display in its lobby.
The basics
Highlights of the Golden Nugget include a casino floor with table games, a poker room with tournaments, slots, and a sportsbook. It also has a number of dining options, including a steakhouse, a pan-Asian restaurant, and an Italian spot, plus plenty of bars. One of its most enticing draws, though, is the Tank Pool, a semi-covered pool with its own massive shark tank and three floors of reservable cabanas.
Things to know before you go
The Golden Nugget is a must-visit for anyone interested in innovative swimming pools.
Parking is free for overnight guests, while visitors can get their parking validated at table games, the poker room, and at dine-in restaurants.
The space is wheelchair accessible, and mobility scooters are available to rent (through an outside vendor called Yellow Scooters).
The hotel, its restaurants, and the Tank Pool are kid-friendly, but nobody under 21 is allowed on the casino floor or at the Hideout Pool.
How to get there
Parking is free at the Golden Nugget, so plenty of people bring rental cars, but some find it more convenient to rely on taxis, rideshares, and public transportation. The Big B hop-on, hop-off bus stops in front of the hotel, while the Deuce, the Ace Express, and a few city buses stop within a short walk of the hotel and make getting to the Strip a breeze.
When to get there
If you want to check out the Hand of Faith on display, visit the casino in the morning, when there aren't many crowds. Otherwise the evening is a good choice, when the weather is cooler and most concerts take place.

The Golden Nugget is part of the Fremont Street Experience, an outdoor mall full of restaurants, casinos, and plenty of flashing lights. Make sure to look up: A large stretch of the ceiling is covered by the Viva Vision LED canopy, which screens regular light shows set to the music of artists such as Shakira, Imagine Dragons, and Tiësto. For some extra thrills, take a ride on the two-level slot machine–themed zipline, SlotZilla.
