Dutch Wonderland
2249 E. Lincoln Highway, Lancaster, PA
A giant purple-trimmed castle welcomes families to Dutch Wonderland, a fairytale-themed amusement park on the eastern outskirts of Lancaster in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country. Its 30-plus rides are tame compared to larger amusement parks like Six Flags or Cedar Point, and most of its daily shows like “Bubba Bear & the Badland Band” or “Adventure of the Frog Prince” are geared toward younger children.
Start the day at Dutch Wonderland by riding the bird’s-eye-view monorail or sky ride as they wind through the 48-acre (19-hectare) property. Near the entrance, you’ll find Duke’s Lagoon, a shallow water park, open only in the summer, that features slides, spray nozzles, and cabana loungers. Other rides and attractions include classics like bumper cars, a flying trapeze, the Kingdom Coaster, and Merry-Go-Round. Out on Exploration Island, a dinosaur bone dig gives kids a chance to get dirty, and a walking path wanders past dinosaur sculptures and provides a shady respite from the rides.
The Old Mill Stream Campgrounds offers lodging during the summer, including teepees, family cabins, and tent sites. Visitors can also stay inside one of the character-themed rooms at the Cartoon Network Hotel, directly next door to the park.
Food and beverage items, coolers, radios, and sound-emitting electronic devices are prohibited in the park.
Ticket holders are allowed to enter the park during the last three hours of the day before their visit.
Dutch Wonderland only accepts electronic payments such as debit cards, credit cards, and mobile payments like Apple Pay and Google Pay. Guests have access to easy-to-use kiosks where they can transfer cash free of charge onto a card.
A limited number of wheelchairs and electric convenience vehicles are available for rent on a first-come, first-serve basis. Some rides or attractions may not be safely accessible to all persons.
Dutch Wonderland is located on Lincoln Highway East, 4 miles (6 kilometers) east of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Follow the Pennsylvania Turnpike West (I-76) from Philadelphia to exit 286, then take 222 South to 30 East towards Coatesville. From New Jersey, take I-78 West into Pennsylvania, then take 222 South to 30 East.
In April and May, Dutch Wonderland is only open on the weekends. Starting in June, the park is open almost daily until Labor Day in September. In October, the park stays open on the weekends for its Happy Hauntings experience. From late November through December, the park hosts its Winter Wonderland on the weekends. To avoid long lines, consider visiting in the spring or fall.
Combine a trip to Dutch Wonderland just outside Lancaster in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country, with other local activities and attractions such as the Amish Farm and House. Here, you can take guided farmhouse tours to better understand the Amish community and their way of life. You can also book an Amish buggy ride with local vendors.
