Destin Harbor Boardwalk
102 Harbor Blvd, Destin, FL
Destin Harbor Boardwalk is the main hub of activity in Destin. Although Destin has long been a destination for its beaches and fishing, the Destin Harbor Boardwalk is a newer project, completed in 2012. It’s just under a quarter-mile (402-meter) long, stretching from HarborWalk Village to the Crab Island Information Center. Shops, restaurants, and fishing charters fill this busy boardwalk adjacent to the Destin Bridge.
Located west of the executive airport, most visitors to Destin visit the Destin Harbor Boardwalk at least once. Not only is it one of the most convenient access points for boating to Crab Island, but it also offers multiple seafood restaurants and fishing charters. Connected to the HarborWalk Village, you can spend hours strolling the boardwalk, taking in the sights and souvenir shopping.
Some shops or restaurants may be closed from November through March during the off-season.
Some boardwalk restaurants allow dogs in their outdoor dining areas.
It’s best to book a charter ahead of time in the summer to ensure you secure a watercraft.
Destin Harbor Boardwalk is right off of Harbor Boulevard in between Destin Harbor and the Destin Harbor and Fishing Museum. The Destin Harbor District has three pay-to-park public parking lots, as well as a stop for the bus for route 30. The Destin Harbor Boardwalk and HarborWalk Village is also accessible for pedestrians staying at nearby hotels. Taxis and rideshares also service the area.
Destin Harbor Boardwalk is one of the most popular spots in the city, so it’s best to arrive early if you’re hoping to secure nearby parking. Sunset does draw a crowd on the boardwalk, but the area tends to be just as busy during all hours of the day with residents and visitors heading to nearby Crab Island. Post-spring break to pre-summer is one of the best times to visit, as hurricane season and summer tourist season haven’t started yet.
One of the best ways to appreciate the sights and sounds of the Destin Harbor Boardwalk is by people watching from across the water. Norriego Point is a public peninsula beach directly across from the boardwalk. You can access it via water taxi from many bars and restaurants at the Destin Harbor Boardwalk and HarborWalk Village.
