Cullari Vineyards and Winery

1251 E. Chocolate Avenue, Hershey, PA

Cullari Vineyards is the first and only winery in the Hersey, Pennsylvania area. Run by a couple with Italian heritage, the wines are made according to traditional practices with modern technology. Grapes used in production include hybrid and vinifera, such as merlot and chardonnay. One of Cullari's most popular wines is an award-winning Coco Nostra chocolate wine—fitting for the “sweetest place on Earth.”

Cullari Vineyards is set among the rolling hills between Lancaster and Harrisburg, and is one of very few wineries in Pennsylvania to produce zinfandel, which is its single largest varietal. In total, Cullari makes more than 35 varietals, including dry, sweet, and semi-sweet, so there’s something to suit every taste.

Due to local regulations, the winery is no longer able to offer on-site tastings, tours, and events at the 1251 East Chocolate Avenue location. But wine lovers can visit its Brickerville Tasting Room, in the Bricker Village Shops near Lititz, Pa., and a secondary tasting room, located at the Farmstead Farmers Market in Palmyra, to sample and purchase wines.

  • All visitors need to be 21 years of age or older to be in the seated tasting areas in Lititz and Palmyra.

  • Wine tastings usually take about 30 minutes.

  • Cullari recommends that if you plan to transport, buy, or drink wine when traveling, bring a cooler, and do not let wine sit in a hot car or expose it to strong sunlight for an extended period of time.

Located just outside of central Hershey, Cullari Vineyards is situated past the Hershey Chocolate Factory and close to the Brickerville Tasting Room in Lititz along US-322. The Farmstead Farmers Market is about a 30-minute drive from the winery, just off US highway 22. The winery is a 35- to 40-minute drive from Hersheypark.

If you’re looking to sample or buy wines from Cullari Vineyards, visit Farmstead Farmers Market in Palmyra, which is open on Fridays and Saturdays, and the Brickerville Tasting Room in Lititz, which is open daily. Arrive at least 30 minutes before close for wine samplings. Expect to encounter bigger crowds in the area during weekends and in the summer months.

Hershey, which was developed to house the employees of the eponymous chocolate factory, now draws crowds looking to visit Hersheypark, which features 13 roller coasters and 65 other rides and attractions. There’s also Hershey’s Chocolate World, where you can learn about the company’s history and production process. The town is also home to the AACA Museum, which showcases American automotive history.
