Children's City

Creekside Park, Umm Harair 2, Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Fun and learning come together at the Children’s City in Dubai. Designed for kids between 2 and 15 years old, this science-themed center is both educational and entertaining for youngsters. Here, they can unravel the mysteries of the universe at the planetarium, tackle interactive challenges at the Earth sciences and technology galleries, and learn about wildlife at the nature exhibitions. Hands-on workshops, a kids’ theater, and toddler play zones provide colorful finishing touches.

The basics

Children’s City presents scientific topics and subjects in an entertaining, educational format, with displays designed for a wide range of ages. The activity center contains several hands-on, interactive exhibits and programs on applied sciences, nature, space exploration, and the human body, as well as local and international culture. There is also a toddler area with age-appropriate games and entertainment, as well as a theater. Self-guided tours of Children’s City are available.

Things to know before you go

  • All exhibits feature signage in both English and Arabic.
  • Free Wi-Fi is available on-site.
  • This is a good option for families with small kids.
  • The center is wheelchair- and stroller-accessible.

How to get there

Children’s City is located in Creek Park on the Bur Dubai side of the creek. The best way to get here is by taxi. You can also access the attraction via Dubai’s metro system; Healthcare City station on the green line is the nearest stop. You can also download the Makani app to help you navigate around Dubai.

When to get there

Workshops, exhibits, and entertainment programs are offered on a regular basis; check the website for up-to-date information. The center also hosts special events tied to religious holidays. Keep in mind that opening hours are subject to change during the holy month of Ramadan, Eid, and other occasions.

Creek Park

Children’s City is located within Creek Park, a waterside park that includes a swimming pool, kids' play areas, a cable car, an amphitheater, and restaurants. Perfect for families, this green space offers plenty of activities for entertaining kids while in Dubai. Enjoy one of the park's attractions, stroll along the paved promenade and watch the boats, or rent bikes and ride around the park.

Ways to explore

Schedule a morning or afternoon for Children’s City: The center will keep kids busy for around 2–3 hours. You can purchase same-day tickets at the entrance, but if you’re visiting during busy times such as weekends or school holidays, book online to skip ticket-counter lines. Options include individual child tickets, adult tickets, and discounted family passes that cover two adults and two children—all grant access to all areas.

If you’re visiting during your own independent Dubai sightseeing, some hop-on hop-off buses stop at the Wafi City shopping center, around a 20-minute walk from the venue.

Address

Children’s City sits inside Creek Park just west of Dubai Creek, and is more easily accessible by car or cab than by public transit. Some hop-on hop-off buses stop a shortish walk from Creek Park’s gates. A modest admission fee applies at Creek Park.

Driving

From the Sheikh Zayed Road (E11), take the Oud Metha Road (E66) exit toward 20th Street, which leads directly to Creek Park. Parking is available at the entrance, a stroll from Children’s City.

Public transportation

Ride Dubai Metro’s Green Line to Dubai Healthcare City; from there, it’s an approximately 20-minute walk. You can also take the RTA 26 bus, which stops at Oud Metha Road 2-2, about a 16-minute walk along 20th Street.

Best times to visit

For the quietest times, arrive near the weekday opening time or early afternoon. The busiest times of day are typically around noon and early evening.

Best days to visit

Aim for weekdays to avoid crowds, although Friday afternoons and evenings can get busy. Saturdays and Sundays are popular times, as the venue is only open from afternoon to mid-evening.

Best months to visit

Children’s City is indoors, but visiting during Dubai’s November–March season means cooler weather that’s better for exploring and enjoying the city as a whole.

Special events

The school summer holidays and Dubai’s winter months (think December–January) see a flurry of activities at Children’s City, including kids’ camps, shows, craft programs, and fun workshops.
