Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (CCBB)
Brasilia, Central Brazil
The Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (CCBB) is a leading art and cultural institution with multiple branches around the country. The location in Brasilia is housed in one of artist Oscar Niemeyer’s many modernist buildings, and behind its sweeping concrete facade, you’ll find art galleries, film and theater venues, and a café.
The basics
There’s plenty to see and do at the CCBB. Once you’ve admired the impressive architecture and wandered around the palm-fringed gardens, head inside to explore the galleries. Along with an ever-changing roster of exhibitions, the center hosts film screenings and performances, along with educational workshops and activities. To see the art at your own pace, visit independently or book a private sightseeing tour.

How to get there
The Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil is just east of downtown Brasilia. It’s about a 10-minute drive from Three Powers Plaza (Praça dos Três Poderes), and there’s plenty of free parking on-site. Without your own car, it’s best to take a taxi or Uber.
When to get there
The center is open from Tuesday to Sunday, generally from morning to night. Shows and exhibitions are temporary, so check the dates and times before visiting.
Exploring Brasilia’s many museums
The CCBB is just one of many museums to visit in Brazil’s capital. Art lovers should visit the nearby Museu de Arte de Brasília (MAB), then head over to the Caixa Cultural Center, which has art galleries, a sculpture garden, and an event space. For history enthusiasts, the city’s top museums are the Memorial JK, dedicated to the former president who envisioned the modern capital, and the Museu Nacional da República, which focuses on Niemeyer’s architectural vision.
