The stores inside largely focus on clothing and accessories, though there’s a popular one for plants and herbs. You can also admire the historic building’s original features, including ornate azulejos (traditional Portuguese tiles). Outside, restaurants serve everything from grilled sandwiches and espresso in the daytime to burgers, steak, and wine in the evening—be sure to grab a table at the edge of the terrace for uninterrupted ocean views.

How to get there

Casa da Guia is less than a 10-minute drive from the Cascais train station. You can also take the number 43 bus—it’s the last stop on the route—or walk from the center of Cascais in about 35 minutes. If you’re driving, parking is available on-site.

Casa da Guia is open daily from morning to late night, but individual businesses keep their own hours. The building hosts regular events throughout the year, from art exhibitions to live music, so keep an eye on the calendar to see what’s on.

Boca do Inferno

If you walk 15–20 minutes along the coastal promenade, you’ll arrive at Boca do Inferno (or “mouth of hell”). This scenic spot is known for its dramatic cliffs, sea arches, and crashing ocean waves that create a loud roaring sound. Visitors can safely take in the scene from viewing platforms.
