One of the most remarkable buildings in the Republic of Georgia, Batumi’s Technological University Tower (Batumi Tower) was the first skyscraper in the world to include a Ferris wheel built into the facade. Although the Ferris wheel has never been in operation, seeing eight cabins hanging 330 feet (100 meters) above the ground is worth a look.
The basics
Standing 660 feet (200 meters) above ground, Batumi Tower is the tallest building in Georgia. Beyond its Ferris wheel, it has an eye-catching modernist style with a 280-foot (85-meter) mast and sail on top of the tower. The Ferris wheel is non-operational but still a unique attraction. The tower never housed a university as intended and instead houses a luxury hotel. You'll easily spot this dominant feature of the Batumi skyline on a walking tour.

How to get there
The Batumi Tower Ferris Wheel is located in the heart of downtown Batumi. It is easily accessible from the promenade that runs along the Black Sea, as well as major hotels and other major attractions, including 6 May Park, a 15-minute walk.
When to get there
As the Batumi Tower Ferris Wheel does not operate, you can see it from the street at any time of day. To get up close to Batumi, book a table for dinner or have a drink at Le Meridien Batumi's terrace restaurant and bar around dusk and watch the city glow as the sun sets.
