Atlantis, Paradise Island
One Casino Drive, Suite 41, Nassau, Paradaise Island
Atlantis Paradise Island is a vast, ocean-themed resort located in the Bahamas. The resort comprises five different hotels, more than 40 restaurants (including several run by Michelin-starred chefs), nightclubs, luxury shopping, and the Aquaventure water park. Even if you’re not a resort guest, you can still enjoy some of the resort’s amenities, such as Dolphin Cay, with a day pass.
The Basics
Opened in 2007, the Atlantis’ 141-acre (57-hectare) Aquaventure combines slides, lazy rivers, and rapids into one large waterscape, whose centerpiece is the Power Tower with its four waterslides. The casino is open 24 hours a day and offers tables, slots, tournaments, and other events. Day passes to certain resort attractions are available for non-Atlantis guests on a limited basis—check the Atlantis website for details. Some guided tours of Nassau feature a visit to the Atlantis.
Things to Know Before You Go
Look for deals on ticket packages during the low season.
Make dinner reservations well in advance of your visit.
Tips—including bellhop services—are already folded into the resort prices.
The hotel is accessible to wheelchairs.
How to Get There
The Atlantis is located on Paradise Island, about a 10-minute drive from central Nassau. Instead of renting a car, travelers suggest grabbing a taxi (available from Lynden Pindling International Airport, formerly known as Nassau International Airport), especially if you’re staying at the Atlantis.
When to Get There
To avoid the cruise ship crowds, visit the Atlantis on a Sunday or Monday, as ships aren’t usually docked on those days. The best time to hit Aquaventure is early in the day or after 5pm. In general, expect more tourists during the Bahamas’ high season, November to mid-April.
Straw Market
While the Atlantis property boasts plenty of retail therapy opportunities, no trip to the Bahamas is complete without some souvenir shopping at the popular Straw Market. Around a 15-minute drive from the hotel, this attraction showcases one of the traditional crafts of the islands, straw working. Remember to bargain for the best prices.
Ways to explore
For Bahamas visitors seeking a resort experience that includes luxurious accommodation, gourmet dining, pretty beaches, a casino, and a wealth of entertainment options, then it’s hard to find better than the does-it-all Atlantis Paradise Island. Even if you’re not spending the night, however, you can still make the most of its attractions.
Aquaventure is a popular choice: The Bahamas’ largest water park combines water slides, lazy rivers, and rapids into one destination. The casino is open 24 hours a day and offers tables, slots, and more. Day passes to certain resort attractions are available for non-Atlantis guests.
Accessibility
The bulk of Atlantis Paradise Island is accessible to wheelchair users.
Age limits
While many attractions are open to visitors of all ages, some will have their own age limits.

Address
The resort is located on Paradise Island, just north of the Bahamas’ main island of New Providence. The island can be reached by car, taxi, and paid shuttle service; it’s just a quick trip from Nassau.
Driving
Paradise Island is about 30 minutes from Lynden Pindling International Airport. Follow John F. Kennedy Drive, exiting at North Bethel Highway. Turn right on West Bay Street, then left onto the Sir Sidney Poitier Bridge. There’s paid valet parking at the resort.
Public transportation
Take the ferry from Prince George Wharf in Downtown Nassau to the Paradise Island Ferry Terminal. From there, it's a short walk to Harborside at Atlantis, where a free shuttle service travels between all Atlantis Resort & Casino towers.
Best times to visit
As an open-all-hours resort, Atlantis Paradise Island is always accessible. Most attractions are open from mid-morning until evening, and day pass holders can check in from morning until late afternoon.
Best days to visit
Weekends, especially during the high season, are likely to be especially busy. If visiting with a day pass, aim for a weekday in the shoulder or off-season.
Best months to visit
Winter is the high season here in the Bahamas; instead, opt for the late autumn or spring shoulder seasons for lower prices and fewer crowds.
Special events
Don’t miss the multi-day Nassau Food & Wine Festival, which takes place at Atlantis in March.
