POINT OF INTEREST

Aquatica

2052 Entertainment Circle, Chula Vista, San Diego, CA, 91911

A family favorite on hot summer days, San Diego's Aquatica water park features splashy attractions for all ages. Twisting waterslides and a 500,000-gallon (2.3-million liter wave pool offer adrenaline-packed thrills, while a lazy river and kids play area are ideal for younger swimmers.

The basics

Waterslides range from single-rider speedways like the Taumata Racer to tube slides designed for group inner tubes, including Walhalla Wave and Tassie’s Twister. Many rides have height restrictions, but little kids are welcome at the Walkabout Waters play pool, Slippity Dippity waterfall park, and Loggerhead Lane lazy river.

Park admission grants unlimited access to all rides and attractions. Skip-the-line passes are available and can save time on busy attractions, especially during weekends. Local visitors who plan to go often can save with a seasonal Splash Pass, while visitors who plan to also visit SeaWorld San Diego or the San Diego Zoo can score a discount with a combo pass.

Things to know before you go

  • Children age 2 and under are free. Children still in diapers must wear waterproof swim diapers.
  • Life vests are recommended for children 42 inches (107 centimeters) and under. These are available free of charge for infants.
  • Pack sunscreen, sun hats, and beach towels.

  • Lockers are available to rent, although they are fairly small and prices are steep, so leave bulky items safely locked in your car.
  • Kata's Kookaburra Cove and Loggerhead Lane have wheelchair lifts; all other attractions require wheelchair users to transfer.

San Diego’s Best Amusement Parks

While San Diego boasts ideal beach weather all year round, summertime brings even more ways to cool off as the city's water parks open their gates for wet and wild fun.
