The Amoreiras Shopping Center opened in 1985 as Lisbon’s flagship mall and is still one of the city’s largest shopping gallerias. The postmodern towers house more than 200 shops, including a range of mid- to upscale brands from all over the world, as well as a multiplex cinema, large supermarket, myriad restaurants, and observation deck.

Amoreiras is a favorite retail destination among Lisbon visitors due to its wide range of offerings, including luxe stores such as Dolce & Gabbana, Cartier, and Fendi. Plus many stores offer an immediate 15 percent tax refund for non-EU residents. Hop-on hop-off tours generally stop at the shopping mall; for a more personal experience, private shopping tours cover a plethora of retail districts in Lisbon.

How to Get There
The Amoreiras Shopping Center is located in Lisbon’s northern Campo de Ourique district. Simply take city bus 711, 723, 748, 753, or 783 to the Amoreiras stop. Alternatively, take the yellow or blue metro line to Marques do Pombal, or the yellow line to Rato; both stations are a 15-minute walk from the mall.
When to Get There
The mall is open from 10am to 11pm daily; it is closed on December 25 and January 1. The best time to shop is during the seasonal sales, generally from the end of December to February for the winter sales and July to September for the summer sales (this is also peak tourism season in Lisbon).
The Amoreiras 360º Panoramic View
In 2016, the Amoreiras Shopping Center opened an observation deck on the 18th floor for visitors to enjoy unparalleled views of Lisbon from one of the city’s highest points. Benches, telescopes, and maps help identify the city’s key landmarks. Access to Amoreiras 360º Panoramic View is from the mall’s second floor; purchase tickets for a small fee at the information desk on the ground floor.
