We arrived very late. It was well after midnight. I had indicated when I booked the room that I had a service dog. After checking in, I took my dog for a quick walk. A car pulled up to me and told me he was hotel security and I needed to return to pay a deposit for my dog. I told him she was a service dog but he said I had to return immediately. When I returned to the front desk, she started to tell me she had to charge me. I asked her “Didn’t you get my message about my service dog?” She at that point backed down and said she would put it in the record. The hotel is supposed to be pet friendly but had no outside area for pets. And that part of town didn’t seem too safe. Out of my two week road-trip, Bakersfield is the only place I would not recommend.
